a south carolina wedding film // emily + clark

while traveling out east last summer, i was contacted by an old high school mate about filming her wedding. i've known emily since she was barely able to walk from our days in church and school together, and her parents have known me since i was crawling around in my diapers. plus, who could resist the chance to film at such a unique wedding location.

the ceremony was at the cliffs glassy chapel in the upper western region of south carolina. this was the first wedding where i was able to break out the DJI phantom quadcopter. while i didn't have the best stabilizer on it at the time, i was able to pull through some breathtaking images.

this was such a beautiful and fun wedding to shoot. special mahalo to:

the same day edit of jer + riss

jer + riss are a couple who makes it easy for us.  one is a UH fan, the other USC.  one is very competitive (riss) while the other just likes to fish (jer)  and whether it's bbq'ing, in vegas, or riding the rapids in the grand canyon, there are plenty of friends to be around.

in fact, they had 10 bridesmaids and groomsmen apiece!  and that was a challenge to narrow it down to just that many.

had some fun with some aerial shots (dji phantom quadcopter).  not all the footage comes out great, especially with any wind, but it does bring such a cool element to the film.

love is blind | SDE | brian + jeanelle

as is the case with all of our couples, we always want to know 'their story'. what is it about them that stands apart? every couple has it...although it's up to us to dig deep to bring out what's interesting and unique about them as people, so we can best capture and tell it through our films.

with brian + jeanelle, the choice was obvious. brian is blind. he's not always been that way, though. stricken with glaucoma at the age of 21, he's lost all of his vision in one eye, and about 85% in the other. most people would be unable to cope with that malady, but not only has brian been able to do so, he's thrived. now a motivational speaker, brian is able to inspire thousands with his message, and along with jeanelle by his side, together they've formed an amazing relationship.

brian also talks about how even though he lost his sight, he never lost his vision. he's been able to grow as a person, and to value what matters in a person.
so, in that sense, love really isn't blind. when you see someone for who they really are, it's not a foolish choice. it's a decision based on what is on someone's inside.

this is their story.

we broke out the first aerial shots for a same day edit. we shot some back in june for a wedding in south carolina, but haven't got that one edited yet. (STAY TUNED) the phantom is a nice element to add and i believe will make a major impact on wedding films in the future.

nsfl combine

The National Spring Football League (NSFL) is tied directly to the National Football League (NFL) for developing players. Think of it as the minor leagues. Players ages 20-29 come through here and play for different teams in this league in hopes of one day becoming bound for the big time.

This combine is an example of what the directors of football operations do when scouting up and coming prospects. Not only do they look for the physical aspects, but also the football skills that are vital to becoming a success. For these men, dreams are born and die during this 3 hour session.

like kids in a candy store | michael + jana

after much prompting from mutual friends, jana + michael met over coffee. while that doesn't sound all too strange, the circumstances that led them both there are anything but normal. these two happen to both be widowed and both have 3 children. so you can imagine how delicate a first encounter over java could be. but what wasn't delicate was the connection that they would form with each other.

and after finally going out on REAL date (as jana puts it), they would be able to begin the journey of love all over again. being able to have another chance has really inspired them both to put everything they have in it, while having fun along the way. as they put it," like kids in a candy store!"

this was certainly one of the most unique and heartwarming weddings we've ever been a part of. the steam train also added a sweet touch for jana entering, as well as the charm of poway park that the wedding took place at. but what was the most powerful were the words shared of faith, commitment, and love. it's very inspiring to document moments that are that real.

amit + bhumi | i'll be waiting for you

location: kauai, hawaii
dates: the 22nd and 23rd of July 2012

this was a wedding we had been waiting for quite some time. our first fully traditional indian wedding. it helps when you have a wonderful couple and breathtaking location as your background.
the was a festivity for all! dancing and performances by nearly everyone, family and friends alike. amit played a drum solo for bhumi that was very special for the two of them.

the day of the actual wedding was a HOT one. keeping up with the processional was an exciting challenge. a dance could break out at any second, so we had to be ready for anything. gabe and i were able to capture everything and more as the pace wasn't too brisk.

mahalo for mira with indian weddings in hawaii (indianweddingsinhawaii.com) for planning and coordinating.
